Contact Your Creditors

It is always a good idea to call your creditors (companies you owe money to) as soon as you know you are going to have trouble making your payments. If you call them as soon as something changes in your financial situation they may be more likely to work with you before you fall behind, as opposed to when you are already behind. If you are not behind and have been able to make your payments you can call them and request that they reduce your interest rate due to on-time payments. This is not a guarantee but it worth a try. Here are two resources that can help you Prepare to Talk with Your Creditors and Ask for a Lower Interest Rate.
