About

The Midcoast Maine Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope (CA$H) coalition is a collection of community agencies that coordinate a volunteer income tax assistance program in the Midcoast area. The coalition was launched in 2006 in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service to educate the public about the Earned Income Tax Credit, America’s largest anti-poverty program. Since 2007, Midcoast CA$H coalition volunteers have helped bring more than $650,000 worth of refunds back to the local economy.

Helping people make the most of their money

Our goal is to educate the public about the Earned Income Tax Credit through free tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers and to direct them to community resources that can help them make the most of their hard-earned money through asset development, money management and basic needs assistance.

Our services

  • Free tax preparation for working individuals and families in the Midcoast area whose income is under $50,000.
  • Connecting people to community resources that can help build assets and become more financially stable.
