The Kennebec Journal featured CA$H Maine’s first IRS-certified training for high school student volunteers. The high school students at the Capital Area Technical Center are working with the Central Maine CA$H Coalition to offer free tax preparation. Check out the full story here.
A 2011 National Bureau of Economic Research study found math and reading scores improved as the Earned Income Tax Credit expanded. The study, “The Impact of Family Income on Child Achievement: Evidence from the Earned Income Tax Credit,” used historical changes in the federal EITC to estimate the effects of income.

Several CA$H Maine Coalitions are offering free workshops to help you learn how to earn, keep and grow more of your money. Featuring experts in education, small-business startups, credit management and investing, the events will be held in March in several locations, including:
- Eastern CA$H Coalition, Bangor Housing Authority, Bangor, March 14, 4:30-7 p.m.
- Midcoast CA$H Coalition, Mt. Ararat High School, Topsham, March 21, 6-8 p.m.
- Western CA$H Coalition, Mt. Blue Middle School, Farmington, March 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
